Paint -in at Destination: Art - December 16, 2014

Come take a look at our new Gallery/Studio Coop  and participate in our first paint-in there led by Fran Nichols from 9:30 - 2:00 on Tuesday, December 16.

Destination:Art

1815 W. 213th Street, #135, Torrance, CA

We will have lots more room at this location.  Plus we have extended the hours a bit so we can get more done.  Fran is always willing to give you some pointers on your painting throughout the session, and we complete it with a critique during the last half hour.

It is fun painting together, and we will order out for lunch from one of the great restaurants in Old Town Torrance.  We also have space outside for those who like the fresh air!  Room charge is $10.

Email me to sign up. I will send more directions after I gather the list of participants.

Paint -in at Joslyn Center - November 4, 2014

Our next PSSC Paint-In is on Tuesday, November 4, from 9:30 - 1:30 at the Joslyn Center in Manhattan Beach.  Please let me know if you are able to attend.  Bring your easel, a table/floor covering, your pastels, and a project or two.  Lunch?

The cost is $5, which is a nominal amount because PSSC is subsidizing us.  We paint till around 1:00 and then have a critique, which is quite helpful to all. I wanted to make sure that Fran could make it to the paint-in so I have changed the date to November 4th.

Those of you have not been attending, please let me know if a change of venue would be attractive to you; it would be in the Torrance area.

Thanks,  Suzanne Kuuskmae

Paint -in at Joslyn Center September 23, 2014 9:00 am-1:00 pm

Our next paint-in will be at the Joslyn Center, Manhattan Beach, on Tuesday, September 23. Bring your easel, floor/table covering, pastels, $5, and lunch/snack for our monthly paint-in together.  It is possible to paint outside as well.  We are lucky to have Fran Nichols (and sometimes Dave Wolfram) to give us a few pointers as we progress with our painting; a critique comes at the end of the session.  Let me know if you can make it as space is limited.

Let me know if you plan on joining us - this experience is better than any class!  and a great opportunity to improve your pastel painting.

Arlington Gardens Paint-Out - April 2014

Dear Plein Air Enthusiasts -

Our April 10th paint-out location has been changed to Arlington Gardens, 295 Arlington Drive, Pasadena, CA  91105.

Spring is in the air in the San Gabriel Valley, and there is no other sublime place to paint it than at the Arlington Gardens.  The Arlington is a community garden designed and maintained in partnership with the City of Pasadena.  It is free and open to the public every day of the year, 24 hours a day.

As described in their Website www.arlingtongardeninpasadena.org  the Arlington is comprised of an "Italian style olive allee, numerous succulent and cactus gardens, an Arroyo Seco like pathway flanked by sycamores leading to a vernal pool, orange grove laid out in grids like historical California orange groves, paths and benches set throughout plant communities, and surprises around every corner."

You won't be disappointed!  Please plan on meeting at 9:30 AM at the southwestern corner of the Garden.  Please email me if you are planning on attending or if you have questions or need directions.

Hope to see you there,
Rose Ash
