Paint-Ins: We have instructed and non-instructed get togethers more recently held at Cannery Row, Catalina Avenue, Redondo Beach on one Saturday bi-monthly. We meet on the months where there is no business meeting.
Our last instructed paint-in was held in June with Joe Mancuso, one of our most highly esteemed pastel teachers. The cost was $65 plus a $5 donation to our host. Everyone brings their lunch so we get a chance to chat mid day. We begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m.
Our last non-instructed, paint-in was held October 6 at Cannery Row where six of us painted through the day allowing us to consult each other for advice.
In June, 2012, PSSC members enjoyed an exclusive paintaway at the Attig Ranch near Santa Maria. These paintings and photos were created during the 4-day plein air event.

The Richeson Company sponsored a painting contest using their new pastel boards. The company sent 20 boards and several hundred dollars worth of prizes consisting of various sets of their pastels. The participants went out after our regular meeting to paint nearby, at home, or various spots such as Malaga Cove from noon until around 4:30 when all returned to our Zamperini Field Meeting Room. Three of our members: Dave Wolfram, Gloria Lee, and Fran Nichols acted as jurors and awarded 6 prizes. Some of the work can be seen below.
